Xiaomi is a big brand from China, famous worldwide for its technology products. Xiaomi is also considered the “Apple” of China.
Xiaomi’s air purifier was researched and announced in 2018, part of the product project “Smart devices – Internet of Things”
Beforebuy Lab is about 500 square meters and has been using 8 Xiaomi Smart Air Purifier 4 Pro machines for more than a year now. Now I will give you an overview of this product after the Beforebuy team tested and collected reviews from more than 200 different Xiaomi Smart Air Purifier 4 Pro users.
Our verdict
This is a top-performance Air Purifier for medium and large spaces in your home. Xiaomi Air Purifier 4 Pro costs only about $220, but its performance in our 100m2 room test really surprised me.
It has a CADR of 500m³/h, which means it can clean the air in a 40m² room in just 15 minutes. Xiaomi’s three-in-one filter (non-HEPA filter) actually removes 99.98% of as small as 0,3μm, including PM2.5/PM10, H1N1, pollen, dust, fur, and smoke. It also Xiaomi Air Purifier 4 Pro has a high-quality activated carbon filter to remove odors and Negative air ionization technology to help fresh air quality.

Air filter features: We lit an incense stick in a 100m2 laboratory and used an air quality monitor to measure Xiaomi Air Purifier 4 Pro performance in cleaning the air from pollutants (PM1.0ug/m3, PM2.5ug/m3 and PM10 .0 ug/m3).
Energy consumption: We used a power meter and recorded the power consumption of Xiaomi Air Purifire 4 Pro when running at highest and lowest power.
Sound Test: In this test we have a sound measuring device. Elisya is responsible for recording the noise level when the Xiaomi Air Purifier 4 Pro runs at the highest and lowest speed.
Comparison: Finally, we compare it with products we have tested in the same segment and room size.

Minimalist modern design
I’m a fan of minimalism and I actually prefer the Xiaomi Air Purifier 4 Pro over the Winix 5500-2 Air Purifier, its direct competitor in the same segment.
The appearance has a design like a cylinder with simplified details, giving a modern feel. The function buttons are also optimized by Xiaomi to only have 2 buttons. I really like the design of this product.
Air cleaning performance/ CADR
After an hour of testing Xiaomi Air Purifier 4 Pro running at the highest fan speed with the incense smoke test, we obtained the following results:

Xiaomi 4 Pro Air Purifier showed quite good results when reducing PM2.5 to 0.3 and PM10 to 0.4 after 1 hour of testing. We have listed and compared with other air purifiers, Xiaomi 4 Pro has nearly the same performance and you can completely rest assured with this level of purification.
Ozone test
With a device that generates negative ions, the ozone generation test cannot be ignored. In a 1-hour test measuring ozone concentration, Xiaomi Smart Air Purifier 4 Pro generated 0 ppm.
Large effective coverage area
This device has a CADR of 500 CFM according to Xiaomi, it can move 8,330L of clean air per minute.

Meanwhile, after some of our independent tests, we found that Xiaomi Air Purifier 4 Pro has a fairly large coverage of about 700 sq. ft. Actually, this number is enough to clean medium to large spaces, such as meeting rooms. However, we expected the Xiaomi Air Purifier 4 pro to do even better because its competitors in the same price segment are doing much better. As you can see in the chart below:
Obviously, the coverage area of Xiaomi Air Purifier 4 pro is not too great. Therefore, if you are looking for an air purifier with a large coverage area, we think this is not a reasonable choice for you.
Wind Speed Test
The maximum wind speed of the Xiaomi Air Purifier 4 Pro is about 0.7 mph higher than the average machine of its class we tested, and surprisingly the minimum wind speed of the Xiaomi Air Purifier 4 Pro is just 0.2 mph. Most other devices in this price range had average wind speeds as low as 3.4 mph in our tests.

Noise Test
When setting the filter mode to the highest level, Xiaomi Air Purifier 4 Pro has a decibel index of 52.2 dB, 6 dB lower than the devices we tested, which average about 57 bB. At the lowest filter level we also measured an impressive figure of 32.9 dB, similar to the ambient sound of a laboratory.

Usefulness
Xiaomi Smart Air Purifier Pro 4 is quite easy to use as the device has an internal automatic sensor, an OLED screen displaying information and the ability to connect to the Mi Home application.

Setting up the Xiaomi Air Purifier 4 Pro is very simple, you just need to open the box, plug it in and turn it on.
